10:09 am - For the title...
While re-subscribing to Crikey last week in a moment of weakness, I was amused by the specificity of their sign-up form.
Crikey title dropdown
And then I was disappointed - I'm neither a doctor, honourable, a lady, a professor, a reverend, a senator or a sir. Just a mister.

4:41 pm - Facebook v Myspace, Beckham v Cruyff

Okay, so this is just a random post of crap that I've accumulated at work.

Firstly, of no consequence surely, last week my number of Facebook friends overtook my number of Myspace friends. This is significant because I've been on Myspace about a year longer. And here we all were thinking that Myspace, despite its numerous flaws, was unbeatable. Remember the giggles we gave whenever anyone talked about websites that would be a "Myspace killer"?.

One of the reasons we hated Myspace, of course, was the lack of an API. "Imagine how cool it would be if we could harness the power of social networking to create our own wacky applications," we thought. And then Facebook comes along and, voila...

Let me know if any of these are worthwhile. I'm quite happy to keep collecting the invites, I just can't imagine the apps will add much to my already strained-for-time enjoyment of teh web.

And on a COMPLETELY unrelated note, do you think David Beckham is trying to be Johan Cruyff? Not only was there the move to Spain, but now to LA. He even took the Galaxy's green/gold strip (very 1992 Olyroos)...

...and changed the colours to blue and gold, just like Cruyff's 1979 Aztecs. He even had a say in designing the strip, and the similarities are undeniable (forgetting Johan's orange socks):

Personally, I think it's great. The MLS don't celebrate the NASL's heritage enough.

And I think that'll do it.

12:31 pm - File management and photo trivia
So, last night before leaving the office, I was working on two documents in Photoshop.

One was a draft wireframe/mockup for a site I'm working on. It was in a really preliminary stage and I'd been staring at it for a few hours wondering how to make it sing.

The other was the photos sheet for trivia last night at the pub (photo trivia is a good way to avoid thinking of another question when you're running out of time).

Late for trivia, I had to make a quick exit so saved everything I needed to save (like the mockup), and discarded stupid things like the photo trivia (which was printed and ready to go).

I was obviously in too much of a hurry, as discovered this morning when I went to get back to work on that wireframe...

2:17 pm - Hair questions - UPDATED
Okay, so since Movember, I've grown this pretty crappy beard, mostly through being on holidays...

Shit holiday beard

And now I think it's time to clean up. SO, should I return to the Neil Young sideburns that've served me so well for the past six years,

Neil Young's dependable sideburns

OR attempt something a little wilder, ala Tim Rogers' reverse goatee...

Tim Roger's sensational reverse goatee

Thoughts?

x

UPDATE

Okay, so I had a shower and decided to just try the Tim Rogers one anyway. Eep! I'll keep it for a day and see if I like it anymore, but I might just have to go back to the classics...

shit sideburns

6:19 pm - for *some* of you
Well, this is really for football people.

This picture is hung behind my desk at work:

1974 Grand Final

It's just a funky print of a picture from the 1974 Grand Final, bought for $4 at the Camberwell Markets by the bloke who sits beside me.

Anyway, the young bloke at the front, Richmond's #10, is an obscure football identity known as Kevin Sheedy.

And for some reason he was in the office today. So:

Kevin Sheedy's autograph

How much would it be worth now? He even told us the story. Certainly brightened up an otherwise shit day.

okay, and now i need your advice.

dinosaur jr's "you're living all over me", one of my favourite guitar records EVER, is available again on coloured vinyl.

SO, which colour should i get? the choice is yellow, purple, blue or plain old black.

the sleeve was a yellow, purpley, black creation. so i think blue is out. what do you all think?

and votes for purple from goths only count as half a vote :)
